Purpose of Position: Primary Care Health Services (PCHS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Temporary Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the clinical laboratory during the months of June and July 2026. The Laboratory Supervisor will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, CLIA, and organizational standards while supporting laboratory staff and maintaining high-quality patient care services.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical laboratory expertise, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Job Type: Temporary Full-Time Position (June 2026 – July 2026)
Department: Laboratory Services
Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer / Laboratory Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- • Supervise daily laboratory operations and workflow.
- • Ensure compliance with CLIA, Pennsylvania Department of Health, OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
- • Monitor laboratory quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- • Assist with laboratory inspections, audits, corrective action plans, and regulatory documentation.
- • Oversee laboratory staff scheduling, training, competency assessments, and performance monitoring.
- • Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory equipment.
- • Review laboratory procedures and implement updates as needed.
- • Support specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting accuracy.
- • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, administration, and external vendors regarding laboratory operations.
- • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering laboratory supplies and reagents.
- • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional laboratory environment.
- • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational meetings as requested.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the qualifications outlined under Pennsylvania laboratory regulations for laboratory supervisors, including one of the following:
- • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years of acceptable laboratory experience; OR
- • Master’s degree in Medical Technology or a biological, chemical, or physical science with at least four (4) years of acceptable laboratory experience; OR
- • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science with appropriate qualifying laboratory experience as permitted by Pennsylvania regulations.
Additional qualifications include:
- • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- • Strong understanding of CLIA regulations and laboratory compliance standards.
- • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory settings preferred.
Physical Requirements
- • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- • Ability to work in a clinical laboratory environment with exposure to biological materials and chemicals following standard safety precautions.
